Preliminary hearing continues into second day

The preliminary hearing for a man charged in Leavenworth County with capital murder continued into a second day on Tuesday. Donald Ray Jackson Jr., 42, is charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting his two sons, ages 12 and 14.

Santa makes early visit to Basehor library

Santa made an early visit to Basehor recently to visit with children and to help Mayor Dick Drennon light the Mayor’s Christmas tree at the Basehor Community Library. An evening of holiday festivities was attended by several hundred people, including many families who make the event a yearly tradition.

Too many people and not enough resources

The Kansas City Star title caught my eye. It read “Amid climate change, Egypt begs families to have fewer kids.” It went on to state that “The Egyptian government sees (large families) as a grave threat to the country – and has spent millions of dollars trying to convince parents to have fewer children.”
