FINAL VOTES TALLIED: Lansing aquatics center approved The margin of victory for Lansing’s aquatics center grew slightly larger after Wednesday’s official canvassing of the votes. Once provisional votes were approved, the count for the sales tax to fund the pool was 1,721 yes votes to 1,698 no votes.

Police Department launches cybercrime detective

Several years after funding was approved for the position, the Leavenworth Police Department finally has a cybercrime detective. Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens said staffing issues previously prevented the department from launching the position.

Patrick Nelson Delavan, 93, died Monday, November 7, 2022. Pat was born in Castlegate, Utah, to Gertrude Brennan Delavan and Henry Clark Delavan on May 30, 1929.

Stella Irene Christ

Stella Irene Christ, 91, died Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Liberty, Mo., surrounded by her family. Stella was born June 27, 1931, in McAllister, Okla., to John Graden and Anna Stevens Hudson. She graduated in 1950 from Rockport High School in Rockport, Mo. Stella worked as a Western Union telegraph operator in several states before settling in Leavenworth, where she met her future husband, Robert Thomas Christ. They were married on August 13, 1955, at Sacred Heart Church in Leavenworth. She worked for many years in the furniture and appliance departments at Montgomery Ward in Leavenworth.
