Mail carrier Luciano Rivera Jr. recently retired from the U.S. Post Office after 35 years of service as a mail carrier in the Leavenworth community. A celebration dinner recently was held in honor of his retirement at the Riverfront Community Center.
In the weeks leading up to the election, the national polls indicated that two of the top issues concerning voters were crime and abortion rights. The polls further indicated that voters concerned about abortion rights were inclined to vote Democratic, and that voters concerned about crime were inclined to vote Republican.
On November 7, 2022, Suzuyo “Suzy” Wenger (née Hongo), devoted wife and beloved mother, peacefully passed away at the age of 96. Suzy was born on March 31, 1926, in Sendai, Japan, to her parents Kokichi and Nobu Hongo.

The city of Leavenworth will be kicking off the holiday season Friday with the Mayor’s Lighted Parade and Tree Lighting. The parade will start at 5:30 p.m.
