Law-abiding marijuana enthusiasts could find themselves in a bit of a predicament following voter approval of a recreational cannabis initiative in Missouri. Though it soon will become legal for adults to possess and ingest cannabis, it could take a couple more months before they can legally buy it.

LCDC still searching for assistant director

The Leavenworth County Development Corporation will be advertising a vacancy for an assistant director position for a third time. Officials with the economic development corporation have been searching for a new assistant director since Lisa Haack was promoted from assistant director to executive director in May.

Lions Club organizes free sock distribution

Lions Club International Director Deb Weaverling recently helped secure enough Bombas brand socks for each student in the Basehor-Linwood school district, nearby Bonner Springs Elementary School and families who are served by the Basehor Linwood Assistance Services during the upcoming holidays. Lions clubs in Basehor, Tonganoxie and Leavenworth received 4,000 pairs of socks for distribution through her efforts.
