Warriors beat Mavericks to return to NBA Finals

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Klay Thompson shimmied his way to 32 points and the Golden State Warriors advanced to their sixth NBA Finals in the past eight seasons by beating the Dallas Mavericks 120-110 in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night.

Leavenworth - Ruppenthal, Alma “Jean”, 92, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022. She was born October 31, 1929 to Joseph and Anna Miller in Wichita, Kan. Jean was a retired telephone operator and clerk for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. ( AT&T). She also owned rental properties and loved her pet dogs and cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Thomas E. Storm, Sr. and Art Ruppenthal, son Thomas Storm, Jr., daughter Linda Storm, two sisters and a brother.

It’s our responsibility to pledge allegiance

After asking the question, I immediately regretted it. Had schools taken this out of the morning schedule? Did their parents take the time to teach it to the soon-to-be fourth-graders? Without fail, the grandsons recited the pledge of allegiance, and looked proud to be saying it.

Granddad’s rough-housing leads to tears

Dear Amy: Recently my children and I were with my in-laws (their grandparents) at a crowded event where I relied on my father in-law to supervise my son (age 4) while I was with my toddler daughter. My father in-law tries to connect with my son by "being silly," which for him means nose pinching, tickling, tug-of-war while holding hands, and general rough-housing and clownish behavior.

Repaired road already falling apart

To the editor: Repairs on Eisenhower Road from 10th Street to Tonganoxie Road were recently completed (2021), and that stretch turned out very nice. There is only one problem: the road is already falling apart.
