2022 seniors, here you are about to graduate. I’m sure you’re pinching yourself at the prospect of reaching your goal of the last 12 years. I think of you all as caterpillars. You’re about to leave your cocoons; your high school and homes, to emerge as butterflies and fly away to your futures.

Embrace the chaos of graduation season

It is hard to fathom that one year ago I was preparing to graduate college, and I truly mean preparing. My friends and I had a two-hour meeting, complete with a whiteboard, to discuss logistics: when family was coming, when we would pack, getting to the stadium ceremony, what we would wear, how pictures would happen, when our party would be, who would be in charge of each activity. The more we broke down what had to be done, the less it felt like we were celebrating ourselves and our accomplishment. Once we concluded the meeting we decided to take a selfie, declaring that night, a week before we would even part ways, our last true night of college.
