While there are no universally agreed upon statistics as to the exact number of lynchings in U.S. history, the Tuskekee Institute of Alabama states that between 1882 and 1968, there were 4,743 lynchings in the U.S.

Kansas college looking into alleged water cooler tampering Bethany College is investigating an allegation someone associated with its baseball program deliberately contaminated a water cooler used by its opponent this past weekend. Athletic Director Laura Moreno confirmed the investigation Monday and declined further comment.
