My friends and I compare savings accounts and starting salaries and even occasionally split purchases by proportion instead of a flat rate. Our reasoning is divide and conquer – if someone learns a little bit of useful information, it’ll help us all navigate what seems to be a constant rotation of terrible markets.

Bobcats win in extra innings
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Leavenworth senior Devon Bruning hit a rocket over the left field fence to send the game into extra innings. But a hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth turned out to be the difference as Basehor-Linwood (4-4) escaped Leavenworth (3-4) with a 7-6 win Tuesday night.

Another Basehor-Linwood softball game turned into a home run derby. Taking advantage of 25 mph winds, the Bobcats hit six balls over the Pioneer Softball Complex fence to sweep Leavenworth 22-0, 16-0 Tuesday.
