Police: Officers shoot, injure armed man outside Kansas bank Sheriff’s deputies have shot and injured a man they say was armed with a gun and heading into a Kansas bank. The shooting happened Thursday afternoon in Leon as Butler County sheriff’s deputies sought to serve an arrest warrant on James Watts, 53, of Leon, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

To the editor: Wake up Leavenworth, we have serious problems that are overtaking our community. I attended the USD 453 school board meeting Monday night and was shocked at what occurred.

Elaine P. (Kubicki) McGlinn

Elaine P. McGlinn, 89, passed away at her home in Plymouth, Michigan on March 4, 2022. She was born on July 19, 1932 in Leavenworth, Kansas as the eldest daughter of Helen (Buselt) Kubicki and Joseph Kubicki. She grew up in Leavenworth and married her high school sweetheart, Richard (“Dick”) McGlinn. They were married for 66 years and had eight children, 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Richard passed away on August 8, 2020.

Helen R. Cox

Helen R. Cox was born on Christmas Day, 1930, at Cushing Memorial Hospital to Fred and Helen (Hilscher) Ettline.

Linda (Scott) Kesinger

Linda (Scott) Kesinger, 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Visitation will be held at First Christian Church, 130 N. 6th Street, Leavenworth, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 6p-8p. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 11a at the Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
