Warren band preps for annual

The Warren Middle School marching band will be the official band of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday. According to Jaye George, Warren Middle School band director, the band consists of 150 students from sixth through eighth grade.

Bergman voted Player of the Year

Basehor-Linwood ran right through the United Kansas Conference, finishing a perfect 10-0, and the league’s coaches took notice. Senior Carter Bergman was voted the UKC Boys Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2 steals per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor.

Last Saturday, March 5, my wife and I were watching the evening news. Suddenly, a small box with the word “Irpin” appeared on the screen. It was a kick in the gut because my wife had spent two nights in the home of Ukrainian friends in Irpin. I know some of those people.
