Reflecting on ourselves can be one of the most difficult things to do. Looking at our reflections can often be just as hard. Proverbs tells us that as water reflects the face, a person’s heart reflects the person. There have been, and there will continue to be, times in my life where I don’t want to reflect on myself. I’d rather just keep going along as I am, blissfully unaware of what others might be seeing or experiencing from me. Does it really matter what other people think of me?

Pleasant Ridge volleyball honored for academics

Pleasant Ridge’s varsity volleyball team was recently acknowledge for its academic success. For having a team GPA of 3.81, the Rams were named a Kansas Volleyball Association All-Academic Team, which is awarded to varsity teams with a 3.3 GPA or higher.

Few like this, but fewer still are willing or able to reject the goods which systems of specialization provide. Few things are as relaxing as bird feeding

Looking out my window and watching the finches, chick-a-dees, juncos, cardinals, assorted sparrows and a plethora of woodpeckers cramming around my feeders, I can generally tell how cold the temperatures are outside. If the feeders are overflowing with a waiting gallery in the nearby trees, I know that it is very cold and most likely below 30 degrees; if the feeders have constant traffic, but not overcrowding, then I know it is mildly cold. This always makes me think about the number of people who enjoy bird feeding and bird watching.

John Arch Hardaway

John Arch Hardaway, 84, passed away on March 3, 2022 at his home in Leavenworth, KS. John was born to Nina and Carl Hardaway at his grandmother’s home in rural, northern Louisiana. The family moved to west Texas in 1943. John graduated from high school in Seminole, TX. He attended New Mexico Military Institute from 1955-1956 and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX in 1959.

Rylee James Styler

Rylee James was violently taken from us in the early morning of February 14, 2022. Rylee spent the first half of his life in the 406, as such he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, back country roads and bonfires.
