American employers add 467,000 jobs in January

WASHINGTON – In a surprising burst of hiring, America’s employers added 467,000 jobs in January in a sign of the economy’s resilience despite a wave of omicron infections last month. The government’s report Friday also drastically revised its estimate of job gains for November and December by a combined 709,000.

Basehor man pleads to indecent liberties

A Basehor man has pleaded no contest to taking indecent liberties with children, according to a prosecution official. Austin Jacob Wiles, 19, entered the plea Thursday in Leavenworth County District Court to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Police officer charged in separate 2021 incidents

WICHITA – A Wichita police officer has been charged with battery and disorderly conduct for separate incidents reported last year, authorities said. Sedgwick County prosecutors charged Officer Andrew Barnett with the misdemeanor counts, television station KAKE reported.
