Joseph Eugene LaFontaine Sr. passed away on December 31,2021. He was born December 23, 1955, in Leavenworth Kansas, the son of Earl Eugene and Geraldine Ann (Corriston) La- Fontaine and grandson to Helen Taylor and John LaFontaine and Richard and Oka Corriston.

National Fishing Expo slated next week at KCI Expo Center

The National Fishing Expo will feature many top professionals from different types of fishing talking about their craft. These seminars are free except for a moderate entrance fee. Numerous booths exhibiting fishing products will be spread out through the building.

Animal ambassador helped foster other birds

An owl that called Operation Wildlife home and served as an animal ambassador for the organization for 27 years has died. Josie, a barred owl, arrived at Operation Wildlife in August 1994 after being hit by a semi-tractor heading eastbound on I-70 near Junction City, Kansas.
