Man sentenced for lying to police

A Leavenworth man has been sentenced to more than one year in prison for lying to police about his identity, according to a prosecution official. Delshaun WInston, 27, was sentenced to 14 months in prison for interference with law enforcement.

Special Olympics practice canceled

A Leavenworth County Special Olympics basketball practice scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. Local Program Coordinator Vicki Lozenski said Special Olympics Kansas has canceled all practices and competitions for the rest of the month because of concerns about COVID-19.

Johnny Mitchell III, 62, was sentenced to 38 months in prison for charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
