Carol Joyce Moore, 83, of Leavenworth, Kan., peacefully passed away on September 24, 2022, at Cedarbrook Senior Living in Rochester, Mich. Carol was born December 14, 1938 in Merriam, Kan. where she was raised on a farm that she truly adored. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, Kan. and worked for the Leavenworth Public Schools. In her final days, Carol was comforted and cared for by her sons, daughter-in-law, and the wonderful hospice caregivers from the The Care Team.
Throughout her life, Carol made the world a better place simply by her mere presence. She created a loving and supportive home for her family and had a dry sense of humor that could be a bit sassy at times but always with love. Her final days were filled with fun jokes and lots of laughter. Wherever she went, Carol made friends and people instantly warmed up to her. She was a prolific gardener and her gorgeous flowers attracted attention from across town. Additionally, Carol supported the charitable work of the Trinity House and was committed to helping others. Throughout her life, family members, friends, and neighbors were the recipients of her creativity, time and talent through her knitting, sewing, crocheting, and cross stitching. She was a wonderful cook who found great joy in making chocolate cake and cheesecake, which will be sorely missed by her children.
Survivors include her husband Harold E. Moore, Overland Park, Kan., sons Michael K. Moore, Little Rock, Ark., and Richard B. Moore (Robbyn), Shelby Township, Mich., and her one and only grandchild, Maddox Moore. She is also survived by her sister Mary Blattman (Mission, Kan.), brother Lynn Bousman (Nancy), Lee’s Summit, Mo., and cousin David Renner (Marilyn), Olathe, Kan.
A celebration of life will be held October 29, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, Kan. (2101 10th Ave). A visitation with family will take place at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Monticello Union Cemetery, Shawnee, Kan.
