LET’S ROLL WITH SISTER VICKI

The Deeper Window Association, in collaboration with the Council on Aging, offers Let’s Roll with Sister Vicki, a mobile respite program for people living with early to moderate dementia. This nonmedical program gives people living with dementia peer engagement, community service, physical opportunities, and social and cognitive stimulation followed by a delicious lunch every Tuesday from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Think about participating in one of the exercise classes offered at the Council on Aging in 2022! There is no fee for participating, and you can join anytime. All classes are offered at the Council on Aging at 711 Marshall Street, Suite 100, in Leavenworth.

Kansas prisoner alleges he is being denied cancer treatment

A man who claims he was framed for a 2002 murder alleges in a federal lawsuit that the Kansas Department of Corrections is not providing proper medical treatment for his terminal cancer. Lawyers for John Keith Calvin, 56, said in an emergency filing last week that the corrections department refuses to give Calvin intravenous nourishment he needs while he fights stage 4 colon cancer.
