Tree enthusiasts who make the trek to the world’s tallest tree deep in a Northern California forest will face a fine and possible jail time after park officials declared the remote area off-limits because of damage done by trampling visitors to the tree and surrounding forest, a park official said Monday.

An opening reception of “Photographic Treasures of Historic Leavenworth, Kansas” was held last week at the Commerce Bank Box Gallery in downtown Kansas City. The exhibit of 18 oversized prints from the glass plate negative collection owned by the Leavenworth County Historical Society at the Carroll Mansion Museum was made possible through a grant from Commerce Bank.
