Frank Carroll, center, has been named the grand marshal for the upcoming 39th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Leavenworth. Carroll was presented balloons by members of the Parade Committee. Members of Knights of Columbus, Immaculata Council No. 900, were there to cheer him on. The Carroll family arrived in Leavenworth in the 1850s, immigrating from County Monaghan, Ireland. Frank Carroll is a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish, where his family has been members for many years. He is a semi-retired accountant. Megara is being fostered through the Leavenworth County Humane Society. She is a Staffordshire pitbull terrier between 3-4 years old. She is house trained. Her foster mom is a dog trainer, so she is being trained in the standard obedience cues. She is very human friendly. However, she likes being the only dog in a house. A longtime February tradition of support for heart health continued this year. More than $250 was sent to the American Heart Association by members of the Basehor chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an organization of women educators.
