A Leavenworth man has pleaded guilty to robbery for snatching a woman's purse, according to a prosecution official. Stacy Shannon Foster, 58, pleaded to the robbery charge Jan.
A woman has pleaded to possessing drug paraphernalia while being tested for drugs by the Community Corrections program in Leavenworth County, according to a prosecution official. Amanda Nicole Perez, 35, Olathe, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia Jan 21 in Leavenworth County District Court, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson and court records.

WICHITA – A man who spent more than 13 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of sex crimes against an 8-year-old Kansas girl could receive nearly $900,000 in compensation from the state. Merardo Garcia Jr., 52, was convicted in 2008 of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and rape against a girl in Wichita.

KANSAS CITY – Police in Kansas City, Kansas, have arrested a man on suspicion of killing a woman and severely beating her 4-year-old daughter over the weekend. Jose Escalante-Corchado, 28, was charged with first-degree murder and four other felonies after the body of 24-year-old Mackenzie Hopkins was found Saturday submerged in a bathtub in her home, the Kansas City Star reported.
