VETERANS’ RECOGNITION: EDWARD FANGOHR

Edward Vernon Fangohr was born in Leavenworth on June 3, 1922, the son of Edward Bliss and Irene Eleanor Elder Fangohr.On Aug. 8, 1940, he married Agnes Marie Schultz, and they were blessed with one daughter, Sandra Lee, and three sons, Michael, Edward and Richard.Fangohr enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 10, 1944. He served with the 107th Port Marine MT and was honorably discharged as a technician, fourth grade, on Dec. 11, 1945.He had been employed by the Leavenworth County Highway Department. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.Fangohr died May 8, 1973, at the age of 50. He is buried next to his wife, Agnes, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1011 N.
