Lansing Boy Scouts will get to experience another “Anti Campout” in Lansing’s Activity Center, thanks to recent action by the Lansing City Council.Boy Scout Troop 165 will use the facility from 5 p.m. Feb. 24 to 8 a.m. Feb. 25.Jason Crum, director of parks and activities, said Scout representative Randy Brown has provided the necessary paperwork, which includes an application, release of liability and agreement to indemnity. A $300 deposit is required.The vote was 8-0. All council members were present.Council members also approved a final plat of the area designated The Dunes. The final plat includes eight lots on West Eisenhower, west of property previously used as a go-cart track.The parcel consists of 32.6 acres planned for single family homes. The lots range from 3.1 to 5.6 acres. Council President Don Studnicka asked if the property was zoned agricultural. Joshua Gentzler, director of community and economic development, said it was, but it can also be used for single-family homes without rezoning.Gentzler told Council member Kevin Gardner that the lots would be served by septic systems.Council members also learned from TerriLois Mashburn, register of deeds, that the county ranks first in the state for fraud alert subscriptions.Council members went into executive session for 20 minutes for a session designated as attorney/client privilege.
