Kansas prisoner who sued over cancer treatment has died A Kansas prisoner who alleged in a lawsuit that he was not being treated properly for cancer has died, his family and attorneys said. John Keith Calvin, 56, died Wednesday at El Dorado Correctional Facility, where he was imprisoned for a 2002 killing that his attorneys and supporters maintained he did not commit.

Defendant sentenced to 7 years in drug case

A Leavenworth man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for drug charges and interference with law enforcement, according to a prosecution official. Tyler Jacob Lee Chappell, 22, was sentenced Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court to 88 months, or seven years and four months, for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement.
