Kelly announces nearly $3 million to support kids exposed to drugs

Gov. Laura Kelly has announced that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will receive nearly $3 million from the U.S. Department of Justice to better identify and support children exposed to drugs, increase public safety and reduce overdose death. These efforts are part of KDHE’s All Hands on DECK (drug-endangered children in Kansas) project.

Basehor woman decorates Christmas tree for local police department

For more than a decade, Debbie Earnheart has called Basehor home. She and her husband, John, moved to Basehor for health reasons, bringing their two children. When the Basehor Police Department opened its new station in November of 2019, John purchased a Christmas tree to be placed in the lobby. After Thanksgiving that year, Debbie decorated it with ornaments she designed, honoring each officer with an ornament containing their name and badge number, something that she continues to do.
