Club donates books to school district children
The Kiwanis Club of Basehor-Linwood recently celebrated World Book Day by donating books to schools in USD 458. The group obtained book wish lists from district Library Media Specialist Linda Ova and Librarian Cynthia Kenton several weeks ago and delivered the books on World Book Day.Books were donated to Basehor Elementary School, Basehor Intermediate School, Basehor Middle School, Basehor-Linwood High School, Glenwood Ridge Elementary School, Gray Hawk Elementary School and Linwood Elementary School.Kylie Couvelha, who serves as the organization’s secretary, said that the local chapter’s project goal reflected the overall focus of supporting local children and the Kiwanis International cause of literacy and education.
City initiates eminent domain for street project
When they met this week, Leavenworth city commissioners voted on a resolution to initiate an eminent domain process for a street project.
Police identify hit-and-run victim
Leavenworth police have identified the man who was critically injured Monday night in a hit-and-run. But authorities have not identified the driver who left the scene.
