A new veterans treatment court is expected to launch in January in Leavenworth County, according to a news release from the state Office of Judicial Administration. Veterans treatment courts offer veterans who have substance abuse disorders or mental health problems the option to receive treatment.
Fire department officials have continued to monitor a smoldering wildfire that was ablaze earlier this week in southwest Leavenworth County. Firefighters from multiple departments battled the blaze on Monday and when it flared up again on Tuesday.
