Measles exposure reported at Wichita airport, Hutchinson library

Kansas county health officers issued warnings about four sites where people may have been exposed to measles, as the number of cases increases.Confirmed measles cases have spread outside the initial eight southwest Kansas counties, with one case confirmed in Wichita and another in Hutchinson. As of last Wednesday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment had reported 48 cases statewide.

Flute choir to perform at Leavenworth church

An afternoon of music that celebrates special aspects of spring - nature, love and renewal in particular - awaits those who attend the annual First City Flute Choir Spring Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Leavenworth's First Presbyterian Church, 407 Walnut St.The public is welcome and there is no charge.The concert will feature "a program full of variety, with selections spanning classical, folk and contemporary styles, all showcasing the expressive capabilities of the flute family," according to Freda Proctor, director of the choir and the director of music at the Presbyterian church.The program will open with Haydn’s "Come, Gentle Spring" from "The Seasons," setting a pastoral and welcoming tone for the audience.

KU senior from Lansing recognized for voter engagement

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) has recognized Maddie Souser, a University of Kansas senior from Lansing, in the 2024 Student Voting Honor Roll, which recognizes students at participating campuses who have advanced nonpartisan student voter registration, education and turnout efforts in their communities.
