Basehor facility celebrates Assisted Living Week

Basehor’s Country Place Senior Living facility recently celebrated National Assisted Living Week. Established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living, the weeklong celebration kicks off each year on National Grandparent’s Day and provides a unique opportunity for residents, their families, staff, volunteers and citizens in the surrounding communities. The celebration recognizes the role of assisted living and caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Tax cuts – the bait and switch political game

One of the worst bait and switch games in politics concerns tax cuts. The federal legislators cut taxes, concentrating on the taxpayers who are represented by the big donors to their campaigns. After all, they need to run for reelection, and campaigns for Congress cost millions. The massive tax cuts result is a shortfall in revenue which leads to a larger and larger debt burden and/or a need to cut spending on federal programs. So Congress passes down programs to the states that were once funded at the national level.
