Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Secretary Christopher Kennedy has issued orders designating several Free Fishing and Free State Park Entrance days. The Free Fishing Days are June 7-8.

Two more people have filed as candidates for the Leavenworth Board of Education. Deborah Brown and Gabriel Michael Mesa recently filed as candidates for the school board.

Storms that passed through the area Monday night led to multiple severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch for Leavenworth County, according to officials with Leavenworth County Emergency Management. A problem with a dehumidifier is being blamed for a small fire at a church in downtown Leavenworth, a Fire Department official said. The fire was reported at 10:32 p.m.
