A Navy investigation released Thursday revealed that shoddy management and human error caused fuel to leak into Pearl Harbor’s tap water last year, poisoning thousands of people and forcing military families to evacuate their homes for hotels.
Leavenworth County generally sees a voter turnout of 25 to 30% for a primary election during a midterm year. But the county clerk believes the voter turnout for the Aug. 2 primary could be as high as 50%.

The Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department will host a Dive-In Movie activity at Wollman Aquatic Center on July 23. The gates will open at 9 p.m. and the movie, Disney’s “Encanto,” will begin at 9:30 p.m.

The Board of County Commissioners of Leavenworth County will be considering applications to fill the vacancy of the unexpired term of clerk for the Fairmount Township Board. The township clerk term will expire January 2023.
City of Leavenworth offices will be closed Monday for Independence Day. The Riverfront Community Center will also be closed. Wollman Aquatic Center is scheduled to remain open for the holiday but will close early Monday.
