Immaculata High School alumni recently gathered for a “Keep the Spirit Alive” event. The third weekend in June has been chosen for the annual event. This year a social was held at the Knights of Columbus hosted by Tom and Barbara Hamilton Fitzgerald. Eagles Aerie 55 also hosted a dinner. Several classes also celebrated reunions. Mary Moppin

Residents respond with plants for newcomer’s garden

When Joseph O’Neill moved to Basehor in the fall of 2020, he came to miss tending the peaceful and beautiful flower gardens on the grounds of the monastery in northwestern Missouri where he served as a monk. That desire to establish a garden on a limited budget nudged O’Neill to put a note on the Basehor Facebook group asking if anyone had annual or perennial plants they would be willing to share with a new resident.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS DONATION

Neal Hanley, deputy grand knight of the Lansing Knights of Columbus Council 10834, presents John Lair, president/CEO of the Kansas Special Olympics, with a check for $687.40. The money will go to Vicki Lozenski, Leavenworth County team coordinator for the Special Olympics, to pay for medals and uniforms. Neal Hanley

Peacock to stream Royals-Tigers game without announcers NBC Sports executive producer Sam Flood realizes that game telecasts without announcers have been attempted a couple times, mostly without success. He is hoping the July 3 game between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers on Peacock will reverse that trend.
