SUMMER CONCERT SERIES returns to Haymarket Square
Leavenworth Main Street will once again host several free summer concerts at Haymarket Square, on the corner of Cherokee and Seventh streets. The first concert will be Saturday from 7-10 p.m. The band Saucy Jack will open for Killer Queen with Freda Mercury.
Russia claims advances in Ukraine amid barrages, troop boost
Russia claimed Tuesday it has occupied large swaths of eastern Ukraine after a relentless, weekslong barrage and the recent deployment of more troops. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Moscow’s forces have control of 97% of the Luhansk region.
Man taken to hospital after collision
A man was taken to the hospital after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in southern Leavenworth County, according to a Sheriff’s Office official. The crash was reported at 6:33 p.m.
Organizers planning to resume Relay for Life
After the event has been on hiatus during the last few years, organizers are hoping to resume Relay for Life of Leavenworth County in October. Organizers of the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society are planning to have their next meeting at 5 p.m.
