City of Lansing offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m.
Defendant sentenced to prison for possession of methamphetamine
A Leavenworth man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for possession of methamphetamine, according to a prosecution official. Timothy Michael Miller, 40, was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County District Court to 34 months, or two years and 10 months.

NOAA predicts busy Atlantic hurricane season
Federal meteorologists are forecasting a record-shattering seventh straight unusually busy Atlantic hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted Tuesday that the summer in the Atlantic will produce 14 to 21 named storms, six to 10 becoming hurricanes and three to six turbo-charging into major hurricanes with winds greater than 110 mph.

Saint John announces new CEO
Saint John Hospital has hired Richard “Wes” Hoyt as the hospital’s new chief executive officer. He will begin his duties at Saint John Hospital on June 1, according to a news release from the hospital.
