Students observe chicks hatching in their classrooms

First-graders at Basehor’s Glenwood Ridge Elementary School got to experience the joy of a new life coming into the world by watching and waiting for chicken eggs to hatch in incubators placed in their classrooms. Each year, the school reaches out to families of students at the school to see if anyone has fertilized chicken eggs that they would allow students to watch and care for the eggs until the chickens hatched.

USM selected to participate in student success institute

The University of Saint Mary is one of 41 institutions selected to participate in the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) 2022 Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success. The institute is designed to strengthen institutional capacity to achieve quality, equity and student engagement goals through the design, implementation and assessment of active teaching and learning practices widely known as high-impact practices, or HIPs. The institute will be held virtually June 14–17.
