With the filing deadline still more than one month away, local candidates continue to file for this year’s election. Harry Schwarz, a Democrat from Leavenworth, filed on Wednesday to run as a candidate for the 41st District of the Kansas House of Representatives, according to the website for the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office.
The Leavenworth Public Library and the Lansing Community Library are co-hosting a program titled “The Political Lincoln: Honest Abe on Campaigns and Elections,” on Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Jahn Room at the Leavenworth Public Library.
With the Leavenworth High School graduation a little more than one month away, seniors are seeking a change to the ceremony. For now, the event is scheduled to take place May 21 in the main gymnasium at the high school.
