A man has pleaded no contest to causing more than $30,000 in vandalism in Basehor, according to a prosecution official. Michael Ray Holmes Jr., 38, Kansas City, Missouri, pleaded Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court to a felony charge of criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.
The White House is hoping to stir up some “egg-citement” when the Easter Egg Roll returns on Monday after a two-year, coronavirus-induced hiatus. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden expect to welcome some 30,000 kids and their adult chaperones for the egg roll, an egg hunt and other activities.
In its first year as a fundraiser, the Basehor-Linwood football team sold nearly 1,000 bags of mulch to local citizens to help neighborhood yards get ready for spring. With more than 100 players, the team’s expenses mount up quickly and coach Rod Stallbaumer was looking for ways to help offset expenses. After seeing other communities use bagged mulch to raise funds, plans were put into action to offer mulch to the Basehor community.
