Police: Officers shoot, injure armed man outside Kansas bank Sheriff’s deputies have shot and injured a man they say was armed with a gun and heading into a Kansas bank. The shooting happened Thursday afternoon in Leon as Butler County sheriff’s deputies sought to serve an arrest warrant on James Watts, 53, of Leon, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Basehor school introduces bucket drumming into classrooms

Basehor’s Gray Hawk Elementary School music teacher Madi Penfield recently asked citizens in the community to donate five-gallon plastic buckets to be used by students for drumming. Originally hoping for 30 buckets so that each student in a class could have one, a secondary goal was to collect an additional 30 buckets so each classroom in the school could have a bucket to use for emotional regulation throughout the day as needed. In the end, 70 buckets were received which will allow some buckets to be held in reserve as they are worn out over the years.

Kansas City woman pleads guilty in fatal 2020 hit-and-run A woman has pleaded guilty to two felony counts for a 2020 fatal hit-and-run during a drag race on a Kansas City street. Shabazz Frencher, 24, of Kansas City, recently pleaded guilty to drunken driving while intoxicated resulting in death and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
