DHS to review cyber safety

WASHINGTON – The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday the creation of a Cyber Safety Review Board that will have public and private sector experts examine significant hacking incidents and recommend improvements.

Weather program available for low-income residents

The rental property coordinator for the city of Leavenworth is trying to get the word out about a program that provides assistance for weatherizing homes for low-income residents. Rental Property Coordinator Lawrence Levine said he has sent information about the Weatherization Assistance Program being offered through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation to landlords and property managers in the community as well as local social service agencies.

Hands-on experience

When he was 14 years old, Tim Johnson had the honor of serving as a page in Topeka for then Kansas state Sen. Jack Steineger. Now as the Kansas state representative for the 38th District, Johnson recently was able to offer that experience to two Basehor-Linwood High School students.
