The crippling blizzard that hit the metropolitan area recently kept members of the Basehor Municipal Services Department working overtime to help clear the streets of Basehor. While the department is primarily responsible for the treatment and removal of snow during weather events like the area recently experienced, the newly established Parks and Recreation Department is also now fully staffed and assists with snow removal as well.

As the bitter cold of winter begins to rear its ugly head for the season, Basehor Community Library is offering a program to help pass the days when it’s just too miserable to leave the house.The library’s annual Winter Reading Program kicked off last week with the goal to encourage library patrons to read at least three books within the two-month timeframe of the program.
