Basehor students conducting survey on stray animals
Students at Basehor-Linwood High School’s Innovation Academy are conducting a market research survey to evaluate the importance of the Leavenworth County Humane Society to the community. The Innovation Academy is a program that works to empower students to become 21st century learners through projects, community connections and the design thinking process.The survey was developed to gather information including how often the respondent sees suspected stray animals near their own home, whether continued taxpayer support was appropriate and if the animal sheltering services are important and beneficial for Leavenworth County residents.Sophomore Karlie DeGraeve said that each semester, students break into small groups and work with organizations and people to solve problems using a five-step process consisting of empathy, defining, ideate, test and implement stages.
Tickets on sale for annual Leavenworth Homes Tour
The Leavenworth County Historical Society will present its 32nd Leavenworth Homes Tour on Dec. 8.The yearly holiday tradition allows attendees to visit vintage homes decorated for the season and learn the history of past owners and their lives in Leavenworth.The Carroll Mansion Museum, where history has been curated since 1858, once again serves as tour headquarters.
