Thomas L. (Tom) Schmitt, 90, died February 17, 2022 He was born February 15, 1932, to A. L. and Rosetta Spencer Schmitt at DePauw, Indiana, the fourth of six children; his parents, two sisters and three brothers predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Schmitt, his daughter, Alyson R. Jones, son-inlaw, Adam Jones, granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth of North Kansas City, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

James Alan Thiel, 68, passed away at his home in Lenexa, Kan. Feb.

Mary Genora Dodson Strange passed away the afternoon of February 9, 2022, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living surrounded by loving family members after a lengthy illness. She was born September 12, 1923 to William and Mary (King) Dodson in Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri.

Dr. Dewey Frederick Gillett, longtime Leavenworth, Kan. veterinarian, died Feb. 7, 2022, from complications following surgery for a fractured hip. He was born June 4, 1934, in Harrison Township, Jewell County, Kan., near Burr Oak, to Elton I. and Jessie Mae (Korb) Gillett.

Sandra (Sandy) Sue (Beaman) de Altonaga, 71, of Leavenworth, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Providence Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1950, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Allen Thomas and Alta Mae (Niesler) Beaman.

Emma Evelyn (Rife, Hayes) Frederick, 95 years young, of Leavenworth, Kansas was born on January 25, 1927 in Rochester, Iowa and passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Shawver Cemetery, Cedar Bluffs, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hannah Nicole Schmidt, 21, Leavenworth passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Hannah was born on September 22, 2000 at Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas to Debbie (Gauger) Schmidt of Leavenworth.
