James Dow Jacobson, aged 87, passed away on January 28, 2022. Dow was born on November 11, 1934 in Newtown, Missouri. He was the son of Bonnie Jewell Markel and Henry Francis Jacobson. He graduated in 1952 from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Dow began his career in construction in 1958, and later founded Dow Jacobson Construction Company. In this chosen career, he built many homes in Kansas City, Lansing, Leavenworth, and Basehor, Kansas, including the subdivisions known as Adams Acres, Sherwood Forest, Hickory Ridge, Fawn Valley, Knollwood, and South 3rd Court. Dow was well thought of and he was proud that he was often the builder of choice in the area. He said he always built each home as if he were building it for himself. Dow was amazed that he could take a giant stack of lumber and turn it into a house. He received his last call to build a house when he was 80 years old. He truly loved his profession.

LEAVENWORTH - Evelyn R. Aguilar, 84, of Leavenworth passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. She was born on August 25, 1937 at Jaroso, Colorado to Perfecto and McClovia (Quintana) Garcia. Evelyn was one of eight children born.
Lieutenant-Colonel Marvin Kim Decker, age 69, died on January 16, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War as an S-3 Operations Officer and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a National Defense Service Medal with two campaign stars.
James David Farris, 82, Atchison City Commissioner, and longtime past City Attorney, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Private family graveside services will be on Monday, January 31st, 2022, at the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden.
Raena Cheyenne Mathis, age 19, passed away on January 13, 2022. Raena was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, KS, attending Leavenworth Public Schools. Raena was born on January 29, 2002, on Kansas Day at Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth. Her mother was Kristina Robinson, who passed away in January of 2018. Her father is Mark W. Mathis. She is survived by her father, Mark and step-mother, Brittany Sole-Campbell and her siblings: Devin Carpenter, Seth Mathis, Sabastian and Sydney Campbell. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Wanda Quinones of Junction City, Kansas and her paternal grandparents, Barbara and Jim Mathis of Leavenworth, KS. Great-grandparents, Roger and Carol Robinson, preceded her in death.
