Kansas issues must not disappear in the fog of war

So, the United States is at war again.Those of us who lived through the Middle Eastern quagmires of the early 2000s can all too easily recall the mixture of fear and dismay that accompanied watching American forces head to foreign lands. For those of you too young to remember, I fervently hope this particular war winds up with the least amount of carnage possible for Americans, Israelis and Iranians.Here’s the real challenge in grappling with times like these.

Not in race, but name on the ballot

To the editor:It is with deep regret that I had planned to announce that for both personal and medical reasons, I am withdrawing from the race for city council for Lansing Ward 4. However, the state of Kansas says, “No Do-Overs” so my name will still remain on the ballot even though I will not be an active candidate.
