Anti-LGBTQ rhetoric could galvanize extremists

As hate speech targeting LGBTQ people increases among some far-right influencers and others online, experts are warning that extremist groups may see the rhetoric as a call to action. Such may have been the case when 31 members of the neo-Nazi group Patriot Front were arrested in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Saturday and charged with conspiracy to riot at a Pride event, said Sophie Bjork-James, an assistant professor in anthropology at Vanderbilt University who researches the white nationalist movement, racism and hate crimes in the U.S.

Family orchard is a true delight – and it’s just a stone’s throw away

Although it is on the Wyandotte County side of 7/73 Highway, the Cider Hill Family Orchard is another favorite locally owned placed of mine to get fresh fruits and some vegetables. They specialize in apples. They also have an event barn and a large gazebo area for outdoors entertainment where I go to get the best smoked chicken ever.

To accept more love and people into the melting pot is unflinchingly American

If there is one thing we can all hopefully agree on in this world, it is that humans can always benefit from more love. Unfortunately, there are many people who love only under conditions, often rejecting those who are different. Though society has made a lot of progress, it is important to remember the bridges we’ve crossed and the mountains we have left to climb.
