Reader tired of dealing with friend’s near-constant drama

Dear Annie: My neighbor and I have been friends for the last year and a half. She is 29 and has emotional, relationship and drinking problems. She moved to another area of town but still keeps in touch. I’m not trying that hard to maintain the friendship because I don’t miss the drunk drama. She is enjoyable to be around when she is sober and we can have good conversation.

The lineup of people testifying for and against a proposal to make completion of a computer science course a graduation requirement in Kansas says a lot about the need for universal school choice. Representatives of two universities, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools, a small business owner and the state community college association enthusiastically support the proposal.

CDC needs to improve communication on masks, vaccines

Americans don’t trust their public health experts, a serious problem in the best of times but downright dangerous amid a pandemic. Just 44% of Americans trust in the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, while only 40% trust Dr. Anthony Fauci (the nation’s point man on all things COVID) according to an NBC News survey conducted this month. Trust in politicians is even lower.
