Two men, two worlds apart

To the editor:I continue to be disappointed - no, disturbed - by the extent to which the faith community has embraced Donald Trump since 2015 when he first announced that he would be a candidate for the highest office in the land. After all, here is a man, the embodiment of white privilege, who is basically a racist and who also has been generally disrespectful toward women on multiple occasions.

Homeowners should test for radon levels

Kansas is fortunate to have the scenic Flint Hills, a place where there is a relatively low cost of living and produces a valuable part of our food supply.On the downside, there’s a decent chance your home will test positive for radon, an odorless, colorless gas that is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.Radon occurs naturally in the soil. Its levels are low outdoors because its effects are diluted, but indoor levels can build and lead to lung cancer.

Give young people the power to change tech laws? They want to protect kids

During most class meetings, students in my introductory journalism course at the University of Kansas complete a group writing assignment. Groups of about five students swivel — as best they can in the theater seats — to talk to each other and plan their response.In the fall semester, more than 450 students gathered each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for lectures and these group writing assignments.
