To the editor:After reading the deposition of Lansing school board member Amy Cawvey, I am deeply troubled - not just as a community member, but as someone who values constitutional rights and fiscal responsibility.Under oath, Ms. Cawvey made clear that she supported the removal of substitute teachers who did not “agree with the board majority.” Her own words were:“I believe that those that were not rehired did not agree with the board majority.”Let’s be clear: disagreeing with elected officials is not grounds for dismissal — it is protected speech.
