David “Davey” A. Thomas

David “Davey” A. Thomas, age 57, died unexpectedly on July 12th, 2022. He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on June 7th, 1965, to Jess “Dusty” and Gertrude (Kruse) Thomas, who preceded him in death. Davey is survived by two sons: Dalton Thomas of Leavenworth and Dakota Thomas of Helena, MT and one grandson, Tilden T. Thomas born earlier this year to Dalton and his wife Quincy. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters Beth McCall, Bonnie Williams, Dale Thomas, all of Leavenworth, KS, and Dallas Thomas of Reed Springs, MO as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States and serving overseas.

He spent his entire life in Leavenworth County and graduated from Lansing High School in 1983. He was employed by many construction companies throughout the area to include Lansing Lumber, Suburban Foundation, Larkin Construction, George Shaw, Jim Kidwell and the city of Lansing. He was also a volunteer for Fire District 1 in Lansing and later became a member of their Board of Directors.

Davey was known as a hardworking and kind hearted person and was an amazing mechanic; learning this talent throughout his childhood from his older brothers and his brother-in-law, David McCall, and passing his knowledge on to his sons. He loved playing his guitar and listening to a variety of music. His barbecue with homemade sauce and baked beans were legendary. He was excited to see the Little Stranger Church being restored because of his memories there as a child. He could always be counted on to step up when anyone in the community needed a helping hand. Davey will be missed by all who knew his jolly laughter and his ability to be a friend to everyone.

The visitation will be at Davis Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, the 19th of July from 6 to 8 pm with the funeral following on Wednesday the 20th of July at 10:00 am, also at Davis Funeral Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery surrounded by many other family members. Memorial donations may be made to Little Strange Church Restoration. Condolences may be left on David’s online guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com.
