Donna Lavera (Logan) Ray

Donna Lavera (Logan) Ray, Leavenworth, passed away Thursday July 14, 2022, in North Kansas City, Mo. She was 88. Donna was born March 13, 1934, in Leavenworth to Walter Berlin Logan and Eva Erma Sparks. She married Kenneth Cottrell in 1959 and moved to St. Louis, Mo. but later moved back to Leavenworth after he passed away in 1977.

Donna worked various jobs at Fort Leavenworth cleaning, The Medical Lodge and Waymire’s grocery store deli. She also cared for her mother when her health started to fail.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Donna married Neville Ray on January 16, 1985, in Leavenworth, he preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers – Ronnie, Wilbur and Leon Logan and one sister Jaqueline Lyman. She is survived by a daughter Diana Mehling, son Michael Cottrell, sister Charlene (Jerry) Hall of Wolcottville, Ind., seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her very much and loved to watch her play her guitar and sing.

Visitation will be Saturday July 23, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 10th and Limit in Leavenworth with funeral service to start at 12. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 701 N.94th St. Kansas City, Kan.
