The Henry Leavenworth Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution honored George Pettigrew with the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal. He was inducted into the inaugural Henry Leavenworth SAR Chapter Freedom Corps. Pettigrew was recognized for his patriotic achievements in the Kansas City and Leavenworth area. Pettigrew is the executive vice president of the KC Buffalo Soldiers Chapter and co-chairman of the Fort Leavenworth Museum Project. Pettigrew is a certified oral storyteller and a U.S. Navy veteran.
