Gwendolyn Webb Buchanan, 85, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on December 25, 2021, in Olympia, Washington. She was with her loving family when she went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Topeka, Kansas to Richard and Fern Webb on March 2 1936. She was raised in Topeka and attended Buchanan Grade School, Topeka High School, and Washburn University.
Gwen married John M. Buchanan in 1960 and they made their home in Leavenworth, Kansas. She worked for the Leavenworth Public Library until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, co-workers and her childhood friends (Barbara, Bunny, Irma, Patty and Sue). She never met a person that she didn’t like or wouldn’t help. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie, two sons, John Jr. (Lisa) and Chris (Stephanie), two sisters-in-law, Darla Butler and Amelia Jones, a brother-in-law, Henry (Maxine), her grandchildren, John III and Natalie, and many beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Linda Lee Webb.
Honoring her request, she was cremated. A private family celebration will be held later. Her family would like to express their profound appreciation for the love and warm acts of kindness shown during this time of bereavement.
